Congratulations to the 50 contestants losing a total of 4000 lbs. That averages out to 80 lbs per person. Also, outstanding Erik on losing twice as much weight in one quarter the time as "the blogger" and winning the 250,000 dollars for your efforts !! Now all the Captain needs to do is set sail and lose his "final" 39 lbs.

Saved by Zero

The waters have been choppy for the Captain.I am going to try to steer a clear new dedicated path next week. The problem I had the past couple of days was that I got my FIXX on a few to many cookies. How unfortunate!!! Luckily, I ended up with a Zero pound loss, and dodged a big weight gain. Back to the Track.

Thanksgiving 0 The Captain 0

The Captain barely broke even with the big bird. However, I should be able to snatch a pound away from the old bearded man next month. Hopefully I still won't be nursing an injury that I sustained at the track last week. Remember, stretch stretch and stretch some more. Keepin it lean, but never mean.

FLUTIE ON FIRE!!!!

Up the Creek

When I was in High School a friend of mine wrote a movie review. I brought this up at our 20 year reunion a few months ago. We both laughed. The title was,"Up the Creek is down the tubes" He received an A on the report.
I am not weighing in tommorrow because my diet today was DOWN THE TUBES!!!! and I got a big fat F. Although I am going to do alot of cardio tonight, it won't make up for a very very bad day. I will weigh in on Monday. It's time to throw the Hail Mary. Where is Doug Flutie when we need him?

Mega Dittos meets Ben Johnson

The Captain is changing course. After another week of not gaining weight I am going to start walking less and running more. Ben Johnson was dubbed the "fastest man in the world" after winning the 100 m final with a record time of 9.79 seconds during the 1988 Summer Olympics beating the great Carl Lewis. I am going to start with wind sprints. Who knows how far I will go.

Wild Wild West?

I know all the Jared Fogles, and future Jareds are having to dodge bullets on this site. However, I feel it is healthy for us to confront negativity directly. Head on is the right approach. It will make us stronger and wiser when it comes disguised. Dr. Phil, in his audiotape series,"the ultimate weight loss plan", talks about people who sabatoge us in our journey to become healthy. Some of them surprisingly are people we love. They get their feelings hurt if we don't eat their food, and especially their deserts. They love us and they wish good for us, but if we don't have our guard up, we have had it. Others are just plain out to get us! Order pizza's and bring home ice cream on purpose. His tapes will help us to tell the difference and I really recommend them. Please consider this site a sort of boot camp for big,Xbig and ex-big people to equip us to fight obesity. Remember, this site is pg13 and will be edited on a daily basis.

Mid Term Exam

Classes were tough this week, but I pulled a gentleman's "C" on my first exam since going back to School. Thank Rodney for the scholarship. I now weigh 257 with a meager one pound weight loss. However, I am still up one pound in the last 3 weeks. I am setting a goal of shedding 2 pounds by next Sunday.
First lesson I memorized. Oprah Winfrey said,"Nothing will ever taste as good as being thin feels" Let me know how you guys are doing.

A Thousand points of lite

George Herbert Walker Bush, in his inagural address, challenged America to become a kinder, gentler nation through a thousand points of lights. These lights continue to make our country a beacon of hope.
There is a weight loss principle here. A thousand good food and exercise choices will yield a lifetime of health and wellness for you and your family. A candy bar forsaken once results in a savings of a mere 240 calories, or (240/3500)th of a pound. That same candy bar abandoned 1000 times equals 69 pounds. A 260 lb. man walking one mile exerts 150 calories. Times that by 1000!!!! What if you didn't use your remote control, but you got up off the couch to change the channel? What if you stood up while watching and became a standing potato? Maybe even moved around a little bit and did this again and again and again. I think obesity doesn't stand a chance if we follow our beloved 41st Presidents advice.

Final Fifty: Vacation Version 1.0

powered by Audioblog.com

Back from vacation. Remember, having fun is your number one objective and a goal of breaking even is both reasonable and realistic. Relax. and remember that half a clam chowder bowl is worth two in the sand dunes. Take a walk on the beach, a real long one, and smell the seaweed. However, just because you are on the vacation version, this doesn't give you a green light to join the porkchop patrol. You may not take a step forward, but certainly don't take two steps backwards.

The Tiny Taco

Well I weighed in today and my new weight is 256. My "Big Enchalada" became a tiny Taco. However, a loss is a loss, but it does not bode well for the "Big Race" in September. I also wanted to recommend a great site, it is www.twicetheman.blogspot.com

Staying the Course

This was one of my focused weeks in the past two months. I stayed at 2000 calories every day this week. I also ran 1 mile without stopping, and almost beat my 9 year old son Tyler in a sprint. Unfortunately, I was running late this morning and was unable to weigh in. However, I am sure when I hit the scale Wednesday morning it is going to be "the big enchalada" loss. Also, Check out formerfattie.com he has a very upbeat interview with Sandra Ahten. She is a diet coach and creator of www.reasonablediet.com as well as host of two popular podcasts of her own: Six Minutes of Sanity & AIM Support Group
