The Captain's log of 7 favorite albums

I thought this was going to be an easy task when Spider tagged me to compile a list of my 7 favorite albums. The difficulty was narrowing it down to my favorite 6. I now tag Half the Man,Don Q , Dawn, twicetheman and Gynipher

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:VanHalen_1984_fcover.jpg
1. Van Halen 1984 still brings back memories of my first kiss over 23 years ago on a bus going home from Magic Mountain. David Lee Roth was at his pinacle, and Eddie was Eddie. Enough said. I think it is the one album that defines the eighties heavy metal scene. Maybe this group was what the movie Rockstar was based on. If it wasn't it should have been.
Dancing on the Ceiling cover
2. Lionel Richie's Dancing on the Ceiling was a masterpiece. I guess I loved it so much because I bought my freshman year of college. I remember listening the title hit while driving to one of my first college parties. Little did I know that going to that gathering would lead me to spend an extra year in college making up for all "my dancing on the ceilings"
Open Up And Say...Ahh! censored cover (1988)
3. Open Up and Say...Ahh by poison. Poison was one of the eighties best Glam Heavy metal bands. Nothing but a good time and every rose has its thorn were the two bests songs on this album.
Wilson Phillips cover
4, Wilson Phillips, the album with the groups name. was a changing of the guard from the eighties to the nineties. Hold on and Release me were songs I remember well when I lived near New York. I think it was the only great album they produced. I am happy Ms. Wilson finally got control of her weight.
Tails cover
5. Tails, by Lisa Loeb, was one of the those albums that was worth buying for the strength of this one song. Although she is not a one hit wonder, Stay(I miss you) is a song that will be played for many decades and many will always be indentify it as her only top charter. To this day it really a song I cannot fully get out of my mind.
The Way It Is cover
6. The way it is by Bruce Hornsby and the Range is one of the few lp albums that I saved. The way it is and mandolin rain are songs that bring my first year in college back crystal clear. I was more idealistic and less cynical back then. I wish I could return to that life perspective. It is something that I am working on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Van_Halen_-_OU812.jpg
7. OU812 by Van Halen is an album that I loved because they tried to break their own mold. Eddie on keyboards. It was really bold. When its Love and Cabo Wabo were the two best songs. I am one of the few fans that loved Van Halen and Van Hagar. One of the biggest regrets I have is missing David Lee Roth touring with Sammy Hagar a few years back. Thanks Spider for making me dig deep

Jerry Falwell RIP

When I was in my early twenties I use to listen to Jerry Falwell's old time Gospel hour. Its been over 15 years since I watched the show. However, I always remembered a comment that he made that impacted my life in a deep long lasting way. Dr. Falwell said, in a nutshell, that the biggest influences on who you will become in the next five years are the books that you read, and the people you meet, and especially those you hold close to your heart. Rest in Peace Dr. Falwell

Seven Deadly Sins

seven deadly sins

Add to My Profile | More VideosRan into Chris a few days ago. He spoke of obesity being one of the seven deadly sins.He has lost over 65 pounds and deserves a finalfifty.com standing ovation.
Are the obese and superobese similar to the drunks and drug addicts that you can find on skidrow? Heroin users wear long sleeves, while the obese shop at the tall and fat shop to hide their bodies. Employers can require applicants to submit to a drug test, while the obese may cheer at stopping the dopers, they hypocritically apply for a disable placard and demand a scooter. Maybe the druggies are more honest? "Food" for thought. The captain has 6 more pounds to permantly set sail for overweightville and leave obesetropolis behind forever. It takes losing 114 lbs. to finally see the truth.Ex methheads see how wrong their habits were and how they weren't being good citizens. Do we care that we skyrocket the nations health care bill? I include myself because I have been part of the problem. Is the captain cracked? Hopefully, my fans can give their feedback. Remember, annoymous commenters need to leave handles. It helps promose a healthy exchange. Finally, follow the finalfifty program and come aboard. It is time to never look back!!!

Is weight loss genetic?

Is fat loss genetic

Add to My Profile | More Videos
I spoke to a gentleman today who has been thin all of his life. Sometimes I think obesity is 90 percent genetics. Of course, we can diet and exercise with all of our hearts, and look the best that we can, but overall it is in the genes. Maybe that is why all of us obese(fatties) are always so grouchy and even fight amongst ourselves? We got dealt a pair of twos, and have to face down the world series of poker. I broke even again, and just finished the marvell comics series blogwars. Captain American was forced to fight with Spiderman due to a Fatalist Spell cast by the Red Skull. It was codenamed genetic predisposition. C-YA in the funny papers.

Going Crazy in Fogel Land

Jack had a great line in the movie,"As good as it gets" . On my journey to Fogelland I got caught in the battle of the network bloggers. The original show was cancelled years ago, and the sequel should never have been filmed. Basically, a bunch of nonsense. I left a message on former fatties site telling him how ironic it was that his site was the inspiration for this blog, and his changing direction inspired me to do likewise. I understand why society rejects the Obese. Biggies can't even get along with each other. I haven't decided which fork in the weight loss road to take, but I have decided to tell the network bloggers,as Jack did in the movie,"Go sell crazy somewhere else,we're all stocked up here."

Quit digging your grave with a knife and fork

I haven't had a chance to read the Governor's book, but the review on Amazon.com has really peaked my interest. Although genetics contribute significantly to obesity, ultimately we are responsible for our own weight. Maybe the fans of finalfifty.com can weight in and give their opinions? I don't have any ads on this site, so if you buy the book, my piggy bank doesn't ring. The Captain is good at loosing weight, but bad at making money.

Welcome Mike Huckabee to a FinalFifty.com interview

The Captain is playing a belated april fools joke on all my fans. But seriously gang, a final fifty congratulations to Governor Mike Huckabee. He has lost over 100 lbs, like the Captain, and kept it off. Here is the most reliable source on the internet,WIKIPEDIA.COM, story on how the Governor journeyed from being a big fattie to a FIT and Trim future president.

Health advocacy and personal weight loss

When elected governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee was significantly overweight. During 2003, physicians diagnosed the governor with adult-onset diabetes and informed him that he would not live more than 10 years if he did not lose weight. Prompted by this diagnosis (as well as the subsequent death of former Governor Frank D. White, whose obesity led to a fatal heart attack), Huckabee went on a diet. Huckabee subsequently lost over 110 pounds,[10][11] according to a New York Times article at a pace so rapid that "it was as if he simply unzipped a fat suit and stepped out."[12]

He has publicly recounted his previous burdens as an overweight man: the steps of the Arkansas capitol building from the entrance of the building up to the Governor's office were so long and steep that Huckabee would be out of breath and exhausted by the time he reached the top of the stairs; Huckabee secretly feared that he would be interviewed by media at the top of the steps, and that he would be unable to respond appropriately due to his overexertion and breathlessness.[13]

Huckabee has talked about his weight loss and made health care reform a major component of his later tenure as governor. This has included a well-received series of productive dialogues between leaders in the food industry and leaders in public health.[14]

Huckabee ran in the 2006 New York City Marathon.[15]

Greed is Good

I have to stay away from Hometown Buffet. I always overeat there. That is why I failed 5 years ago and regained over a hundred pounds. Today, I try to put myself into positions where the odds are in my favor,a form of insider trading for fat people (smile) with no jail time, but a punitive smaller waiste size (punishment from the SEC). Wild Wild West?

I know all the Jared Fogles, and future Jareds are having to dodge bullets on this site. However, I feel it is healthy for us to confront negativity directly. Head on is the right approach. It will make us stronger and wiser when it comes disguised. Dr. Phil, in his audiotape series,"the ultimate weight loss plan", talks about people who sabatoge us in our journey to become healthy. Some of them surprisingly are people we love. They get their feelings hurt if we don't eat their food, and especially their deserts. They love us and they wish good for us, but if we don't have our guard up, we have had it. Others are just plain out to get us! Order pizza's and bring home ice cream on purpose. His tapes will help us to tell the difference and I really recommend them. Please consider this site a sort of boot camp for big,Xbig and ex-big people to equip us to fight obesity. Remember, this site is pg13 and will be edited on a daily basis.

A Thousand points of lite

George Herbert Walker Bush, in his inagural address, challenged America to become a kinder, gentler nation through a thousand points of lights. These lights continue to make our country a beacon of hope.
There is a weight loss principle here. A thousand good food and exercise choices will yield a lifetime of health and wellness for you and your family. A candy bar forsaken once results in a savings of a mere 240 calories, or (240/3500)th of a pound. That same candy bar abandoned 1000 times equals 69 pounds. A 260 lb. man walking one mile exerts 150 calories. Times that by 1000!!!! What if you didn't use your remote control, but you got up off the couch to change the channel? What if you stood up while watching and became a standing potato? Maybe even moved around a little bit and did this again and again and again. I think obesity doesn't stand a chance if we follow our beloved 41st Presidents advice.
